Youth & Sports Development

Influenced by our mentor who was legendary, iconic and an accomplished professional footballer, who in his active days combined his academic studies with the rigorous and strenuous measures of playing football while at Tranmere Rovers FC in England, EOCF is determined to transfer his worthy legacies to most of our talented youths especially through football.

We have been using football to empower the youths through our Soccer Academy floated recently as well as imbibing the disciplinary principles of Late Elkanah Onyeali “Mercedes”.

The Foundation in memory of our iconic mentor took over sponsorship of Ihitte Mbieri Unity Football Competition giving it a face lift that meets FIFA, CAF, NFF and the Imo State FA standards in conjunction with Imo State Sports Commission to fish out budding talents as well as help to curb social vices in the area by engaging the youths in meaningful entertainment.

The venture which was driven by our mission to build human capacity gave birth to the Foundations academy, Elkanah Onyeali FC Academy made up of talents carefully drawn by our professional partners during the 2019 edition of the tournament.

However, the club is rearing to take part in the 2020 Aiteo Cup (state preliminaries) as soon as the authorities do announce when it is safe for football activities to resume. This in no small measure will arm the young lads the opportunity to expose their talents.

The foundation has plans to explore the European soccer stage availing our young talents the potentials abound in football (Sports generally) by attending international youth tournaments for academies arranged by our partners.

The legendary and iconic first black to play for Tranmere Rovers in England in early 60's as well as the national team.
